Weekly classes and many services at Bhakti House are offered in the spirit of giving and support known as dāna. In some ways, dāna is similar to our ideas of charitable donations. The main difference is that there is mutual benefit.
Teachers willingly give their time and experience for the benefit of participants. The is known as as jnanadāna, the offering of knowledge and skill. As a group, our teachers have over 7,500 hours of formal training in addition to the personal time they invest in their own personal sadhana.
Students and participants willingly support the efforts of their teachers through financial and material support. This is known as dakshina. Dakshina is giving as much as you can afford to give in support of your teachers and Bhakti House. How much is that? Only you really know. In some cases, such as retreats and trainings, there are set minimums to cover fixed costs. In other cases, the amount is governed by the yoga principles (yamas) of non-stealing (asteya) and non-greed (aparigraha).
While dakshina is typically financial support, it may also be given through other material forms of support. Please contact Ramdas directly to inquire about offering material support.
